Students from Kericho County in all Kenyan universities and technical colleges in Kenya have a reason to smile because The County Government of Kericho in partnership with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has established Kericho County Revolving Education Fund . The Fund was launched a few days ago by delegations from The county Government and HELB led by H.E the Governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony and HELB CEO Mr. Charles Ringera at Rays Hotel in Kericho.
The 100 million fund will ensure that all students from Kericho County in Universities and Colleges under the TIVET program get access to educational loans. Upon completion of their studies they will repay the loans back to the fund to be enjoyed by other residents for posterity.
The County government of Kericho will each year pool 100 million to the fund until it is fully self sustaining. Speaking during the launch H.E the Governor urged residents of Kericho to take advantage of the fund and enroll their students in universities and college.
“I came from a poor background and HELB enabled me to achieve my dreams , as the Governor of Kericho I do not want to see Students from poor backgrounds lose the opportunity to pursue their dreams due to lack of finance” said the Governor.
