RESIDENTS in Kericho county want the Constituency Development Fund Act amended and aligned with the constitution. They gave their views during a meeting organised by CDF national board at Kericho Gardens on Wednesday.

The CDF officials from Ainamoi, Bureti, Belgut, Kipkelion East, Kipkelion West and Sigowet-Soin constituencies were led by the board's chief executive officer Yusuf Mbuno. Mbuno said individuals and human rights groups who are trying to get CDF abolished risk the wrath of Kenyans, who have benefited greatly from the Fund.

He said they were in Kericho on a factfinding mission on the gains achieved from the Fund since inception in 2003. Mbuno said through the kitty, Sh172 billion has been spent nationwide on development projects, such as schools, roads, hospitals and bursaries. He said 41 constituencies in South Rift have benefited from Sh4.3 billion.
