A police officer died after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle along Kisumu - Nakuru highway on Thursday night.
The boda boda rider hit Samuel Mureithi amid a crackdown as he crossed the road at Kapsoit trading centre at about 11pm.
Mureithi died at the scene after sustaining head injuries, Kericho county police commander Rose Muchuma told KNA on phone on Friday.
Muchuma said a manhunt was launched for the rider who sped off after the accident. She noted that his headlights were off.
"The boda boda rider is well known in the area and we will not take long to arrest him," she said.
Mureithi was an OCS at Kapsoit police post. His body was taken to Kericho hospital mortuary.
