A family in Kitingeche village in Kericho County is mourning after their 3 year old girl perished yesterday evening in a house inferno.
The little girl was sleeping when the fire broke out from a burning jiko.
The mother had gone to bring animals from the grazing field and had left food cooking. She took long and the stove exploded and the whole house caught fire.
Neighbours who saw the smoke billowing from the house, rushed to try and save the girl but their efforts were unsuccessful and the girl burnt to death.
The area Chief condoled with the family and asked parents especially mothers to always leave their children with caretakers.
He noted that just a fortnight ago, two siblings perished in another inferno in a bordering village.
